Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is a rare but life-threatening medical emergency. Common predisposing factors include closed head trauma, blood pressure alterations, history of pituitary irradiation, cardiac surgery, anticoagulation, treatment with dopamine agonists, pituitary stimulation testing, and pregnancy.
